Moldovan president meets European Union Ambassador
President Maia Sandu has met European Union Ambassador to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks. The key topics included preparations for the first Moldova-EU summit, scheduled to be held in Chisinau on July 4. This new dialogue format, set to become regular, shows the deepening relationship between Moldova and the European Union and marks a transition to a new stage in the European integration process.
The discussions also focused on the state of the accession process. Moldovan authorities, in cooperation with European counterparts, are currently aligning national legislation with European standards.
Significant emphasis was placed on justice reform, a key commitment of Moldova. The Moldovan president reiterated that the country would continue to strengthen a fair and efficient judicial system for the benefit of citizens.
In the light of the upcoming parliamentary elections due in next autumn, the officials also addressed the risk of external interference and election manipulation attempts. The head of state emphasized the importance of holding elections free from foreign interference, allowing Moldovan citizens to decide their future freely and democratically.
