Moldovan PM, Swedish Ambassador to Moldova discuss bilateral cooperation at farewell meeting
Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova Katarina Fried, who ends her mandate in Moldova, had a meeting today. The officials discussed the relations between Moldova and the Kingdom of Sweden, cooperation in various sectors and areas where it can be expanded.
PM Dorin Recean appreciated the ambassador's significant contribution to strengthening the partnership between the two countries and supporting the European path of Moldova. "We see the results of your work and our joint efforts. The unwavering support for our democratic reforms and European aspirations has a lasting impact," said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The PM emphasized that Sweden was one of the largest bilateral donors for Moldova. Through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, financial and technical assistance is provided in such areas as good governance, social inclusion and sustainable development.
As for the sectoral cooperation, the interlocutors discussed increasing Swedish investments in green energy, cybersecurity, information technologies and the manufacturing industry. The sides also highlighted the launch in June of direct flights between the two countries' capitals, which will also improve economic relations.
Another topic addressed was the security partnership; Dorin Recean appreciated Sweden's support for strengthening the cybersecurity resilience of Moldova. In the context, the officials referred to measures taken for the fair conduct of the upcoming autumn elections, combating propaganda and false narratives.
