Moldovan PM has discussions with chief executive of French Development Agency

The French Development Agency (AFD) will continue to assist Moldova in reforming key sectors and pursuing the European integration agenda. The commitment to developing the partnership was reiterated at a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and AFD Chief Executive Remy Rioux.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean appreciated AFD's support and the agency's alignment with the priorities set by the government, noting the portfolio that includes a range of strategic projects for Moldova. The PM emphasized AFD's support in the energy sector, focusing on the INSPIREE project (Initiative for Sustainable Public Infrastructure Development through Renovations for Energy Efficiency). This involves the energy renovation of 30 public buildings, of which 16 are higher education buildings and 14 are district hospitals. About 200,000 citizens will benefit from the project's results, with annual financial savings reaching two million euros.

The prime minister also referred to the collaboration in the microfinance sector for the business environment and attracting French companies to the financial and banking sector of the country: "We want business people to know that Moldova provides many opportunities and is a safe destination for investments."

The officials discussed AFD's support in the railway, water supply and sewerage, irrigation, as well as the reforestation sectors. At the same time, AFD Chief Executive Remy Rioux expressed the agency's openness to boosting the cooperation in judicial reform, strengthening the rule of law and increasing public institutions' capacity.
