Moldovan government, Ungheni city hall modernize public transport: 14 mini-buses, four new buses for region's residents
The residents of the Ungheni municipality will benefit from modern and comfortable urban public transport conditions with the acquisition of 14 minibuses and four buses by the government and the city hall. The first batch of 14 transportation vehicles was presented today. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu participated in the ceremony during his working visit to the central Ungheni district.
The new vehicles will be deployed starting from January 2026 and will contribute to enhancing the quality of public services and streamlining the transport network in the Ungheni municipality. Another four new transport units are expected to arrive soon. The total value of the project amounts to about 24 million lei, of which 14 million was allocated by the government.
Also today, a modern garbage collection vehicle was presented in Ungheni, which will serve about 13,000 families in the region.
The PM noted that infrastructure’s development was essential for improving citizens' living conditions and emphasized that the government would continue to support projects that help communities develop:
“Here we see just two examples of projects carried out for the residents of Ungheni. Our goal now is to continue all modernization projects and enhance the quality of life for people. Ungheni is an example of collaboration and vision, and these projects show that things are changing for the better.”
The garbage truck procurement project involved costs amounting to 2.9 million lei, covered by the local public authority and the government, which allocated about 2 million lei through the National Environmental Fund.
