Moldovan government approves principles of subsidies in agriculture and rural areas
Chisinau, February 22 /MOLDPRES/- The government will support the development of agricultural activities in 2023 by offering financial means from the national fund for development of agriculture and rural environment. The government today approved a draft law on subsidies in agriculture and rural environment, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The authorities propose that the new document will ensure the stimulation of competitiveness, the sustainable development of the agro-industrial sector, the rational management of natural resources, as well as ensuring the socio-economic development of rural areas.
The draft law sets the principles of the state's subsidy policy in agriculture and the rural environment; the attributions of the public administration authorities in the field of subsidies in agriculture and the rural environment; general subsidy forms and conditions; the particularities of the procedure for examining subsidy applications.
"By implementing this project, we aim to modernize the agri-food chain in order to align with the requirements of the European Union and to facilitate access to capital markets for farmers, to implement modern practices for managing natural resources and environmentally friendly technologies, as well as ecological products. At the same time, we are determined to contribute to increasing the resilience of farmers by adapting to climate change and mitigating the effects on agricultural production. At the same time, through the involvement of the local community, we will encourage the balanced development of rural territories and the businesses of micro, small and medium farmers", said Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry.
For the implementation of the proposed law, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will develop the following forms of subsidy: in advance; post-investment; staged investments; direct and complementary. They will be subject to public consultations and proposed for approval by the Government.
