
Moldovan president meets German Federal Chancellor
President Maia Sandu has met Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz in Rome, on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference.
During the discussions, the two officials reaffirmed the solidity of the Moldovan-German partnership and the common commitment to support Ukraine in the face of the Russian aggression. President Maia Sandu expressed Moldova's gratitude for the continuous support provided by Germany both in economic development and infrastructure, as well as in difficult times, such as the energy crisis.
Germany, Europe's largest economy, is an important trade partner for Moldova and an active supporter of economic development through investments that create thousands of jobs in all regions of the country.
"We discussed the strong partnership between Moldova and Germany, our ongoing efforts to improve the lives of Moldovans and our firm determination to join the European Union," said President Maia Sandu after the meeting.
