World Bank provides Moldova with financial support for backing economic opportunities, climate transition
Moldova will receive financial support from the World Bank to support economic opportunities and climate transition. The parliament today ratified two agreements concluded by Moldova with the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
Thus, the International Development Association will provide a loan of 46.3 million euros, which represents budgetary support. The funds will be disbursed in a single installment and the credit maturity is 25 years, including a 5-year grace period.
At the same time, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide a loan of 37 million euros and a grant of 8 million dollars. The credit maturity will be up to 30 years, including a 5-year grace period.
Both financings are provided following the fulfillment of 11 conditions aimed at enhancing the private sector’s competitiveness, improving employability and access to quality education, as well as enhancing energy security and promoting climate-smart agriculture. The funds are meant for the implementation of the Development Policy Operation for Supporting Economic Opportunities and Climate Transition Programme.
