Entrepreneurs get rid of unnecessary paperwork; Moldovan parliament simplifies economic legislation

The parliament has voted, in the second reading, a comprehensive legislative package aimed at simplifying the process of starting and developing businesses, reducing the bureaucratic burden on the private sector. The draft includes amendments to 42 laws and aims to reform 86 permissive acts, 34 of which are to be eliminated.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the measures will generate savings of about 10 million lei annually just from reducing administrative costs. Other estimates indicate that entrepreneurs could save up to 80 million lei annually due to the reduction of excessive regulations.

Among the most important changes, there are the extension of the validity period of certain acts, the elimination of requests for redundant documents and the reduction of the risk of disproportionate sanctions.

This is the seventh legislative initiative to reduce bureaucracy approved in the last three years, as part of a broader strategy to support micro, small-, and medium-sized enterprises in Moldova.
