Modern vegetable growing in Causeni: Moldovan PM discusses with agricultural business owners
Prime Minister Dorin Recean has visited the vegetable greenhouses owned by the Turcan and Sarev families in Causeni. The decision to invest in agriculture was made after returning from abroad, and during those four years of activity, four greenhouses for vegetable cultivation and one for growing seedlings were built.
The vegetable growers raise tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and eggplants, by using a modern drip irrigation system and a special film that prevents rapid evaporation of water and retains heat in the soil when it's cold. The vegetables are marketed at the wholesale markets of Causeni.
The PM and the vegetable growers discussed the state support for the development of agricultural businesses, in the context that entrepreneurs plan to expand production. The most popular programme in this field is the post-investment grant programme provided by the Agency for Investment and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA).
At the same time, support can be accessed for the reimbursement of credit rates or covering energy costs for the irrigation of the agricultural products. Other benefits for vegetable growers involve subsidies for starting new greenhouse projects and developing projects in stages, with 50-per cent co-financing.
