Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today had a meeting with Ambassador of Latvia to Moldova Edgars Bondars, during which both sides reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation and support the European integration path of Moldova.

The discussions focused on expanding economic relations, with an emphasis on Latvian investments in the fields of information technology and energy. In the context, the sides noted that the improvement of contacts between business communities was facilitated by the direct Riga–Chisinau flight, as well as by the business forums organized in Riga and Chisinau.

The PM praised the joint projects for modernizing cybersecurity infrastructure and strengthening crisis management, including Latvia’s support for developing the capacities of the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service (STISC) through staff training programmes, exchanges of experience and methodological assistance for the creation of a future national data center.

At the same time, the constant assistance provided by Latvia to Moldova’s European integration was highlighted: “Latvia’s support for the European integration of Moldova is significant and Latvia’s experience in the EU accession process and in post-accession reforms is a valuable source of expertise for us,” said Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.

The officials noted that Moldova and Latvia would continue institutional cooperation, in order to strengthen public administration capacities, as well as collaboration to combat disinformation, in the fields of education and culture.
