Moldovan PM has discussions with Cosauti village residents

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, during his visit to the northern Soroca district, has met residents of the Cosauti village, known for its local natural stone processing industry. The discussions focused on how people’s lives have changed locally thanks to governmental projects implemented in recent years, as well as the challenges they are currently facing.

Among the achievements of recent years, locals highlighted the renovation of the kindergarten in the village of Iorjnita, which is part of the Cosauti commune, the repair of the medical center, the post office’s building, as well as more roads leading to social infrastructure in the locality. Priorities for the coming period include the expansion of the water supply system and the continued rehabilitation of roads.

The PM emphasized that the government would continue to support local authorities in implementing projects that provide better living conditions, with various funding opportunities available for local initiatives, such as the European Village programmes, through which a total of 70 projects have been implemented in Soroca district. “Peace and prosperity, developed localities and good living conditions — these stay the priorities we continue to work for,” said the prime minister.

The PM praised the work of the village’s stone craftsmen, known throughout the country for their skill. In the context, discussions also addressed the operation of the local stone quarry and the provision of raw materials for the craftsmen.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu also stressed the need to further promote the tourism potential of the region and of Cosauti village, which includes tourist attractions, such as the Cosauti Landscape Reserve and the local monastery. The village of Cosauti has over 2,000 inhabitants.
