President, Supreme Commander of the National Army Maia Sandu has paid an information visit to the construction site of the new military unit in the central Moldova Bacioi commune, which will provide accommodation and training facilities for both military personnel and civilians, in line with European standards. The construction of the new camp is included in the Defense Ministry’s Strategic Vision for the medium-term development of the National Army for the years 2022–2025.

During the visit, the head of state assessed the progress of the works and discussed with representatives of the Defense Ministry the stages of project’s implementation, compliance with international standards and the impact on national security.

“For many years, we have been talking about the poor conditions in which Moldovan soldiers live and train. Things are finally changing for the better. This is what the construction site of the new military unit in Bacioi looks like. The camp will provide modern accommodation and training conditions, in line with the best international practices. Investments in defense are investments in peace, in stability, and in the confidence that, even in a complicated world, we can take care of one another and fulfill with honor our duty to our country,” said President Maia Sandu.

The new unit will be the first military camp of this kind built in Moldova since the country gained independence. The construction works are planned to be completed by 2027.
