
Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister meets ambassadors of Nordic-Baltic 8 countries
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian had a meeting today with ambassadors of Nordic-Baltic 8 (NB8): Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden, who are on a fact-collecting visit to the Republic of Moldova.
According to the Bureau for Reintegration, the current situation of the negotiation process for the Transnistrian settlement, the most pressing issues affecting both banks of the Dniester, Chisinau's priorities in promoting the country's reintegration policies, as well as the steps taken to solve the existing problems were the main topics of discussion.
Additionally, the alarming situation of human rights in the Transnistrian region was prioritized. Special emphasis was placed on the immediate and unconditional release of persons illegally detained by Transnistrian structures, highlighting the severity of the violation of their fundamental rights.
Moreover, the elimination of obstacles impeding the free movement of citizens, the need to refrain from imposing illegal payments on farmers from Dubăsari district, ensuring the proper functioning of Romanian language schools, etc. were also discussed.
Serebrian highlighted the efforts of national authorities in promoting a peaceful and sustainable reintegration process, emphasizing the importance of continued support from international partners in this endeavor.
NB8 officials reiterated the strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and encouraged the continuation of dialogue for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
