Denmark's Foreign Minister: Moldova has determination to move forward on European integration path
The Republic of Moldova has the potential and determination to face challenges and advance on the European integration path. This message was conveyed today by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen, during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi.
Popșoi thanked his Danish counterpart for the friendship and support of our country's European path. Starting 1 July, Denmark will take over the presidency of the Council of European Union, and the Republic of Moldova is counting on the support of the trusted partner in joining the European Union.
“The relations between the Republic of Moldova and Denmark are excellent, based on trust and solid cooperation. Denmark has always stood by the Republic of Moldova in key moments, providing constant support. So far, the Republic of Moldova has benefited from assistance from Danish authorities in strengthening economic, financial, energy, and security resilience. Last year, Denmark inaugurated an embassy in Chișinău, an important step in deepening bilateral relations,” said Popșoi.
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the leadership role that Denmark will exercise in 2025, as coordinator of the NB8 format, noting that recent visits to our country by Nordic-Baltic 8 delegations are a strong signal of support for our European aspirations and for strengthening a more united, resilient and democratic Europe.
Danish Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen noted that the Republic of Moldova can rely on Denmark in integrating into the large family of the European Union.
“Although the path is complex and requires a lot of work, the Republic of Moldova has the potential and determination to face challenges and advance on the path of European integration,” remarked the official.
Today, Mihai Popșoi also met with members of the foreign affairs and European affairs committees of the Danish Parliament, discussing parliamentary support for Moldova’s European integration and regional security developments.
On May 12–13, Popșoi is visiting the Kingdom of Denmark. During this visit, the official will also meet with representatives of the Danish Parliament.
He will participate in Democracy Summit in Copenhagen, where he will deliver a speech. Mihai Popșoi will also meet with members of the Moldovan diaspora in Denmark.
