EU Delegation: Moldova advances in EU accession process

Moldova is advancing in its process of accession to the European Union (EU). The completion of screening meetings for cluster 6, External Relations, marks new progress and brings Moldova halfway through the negotiation process for accession. The European Union Delegation in Moldova has made statements to this effect.

The EU Delegation specified that further meetings would be held for cluster 3 (Competitiveness and inclusive growth), cluster 4 (Green agenda and sustainable connectivity), and cluster 5 (Natural resources, agriculture, and cohesion) – essential steps for economic development and modernization of the country.

“This progress consolidates the European path of Moldova, ensuring the adjusting of legislation to EU standards, opening new economic and social opportunities,” reads the message of the EU Delegation.

This week, in Brussels, three negotiation chapters were discussed. Several teams of public officials from Moldovan institutions, along with experts from the European Commission, analyzed Chapter 28 - Consumer and Health Protection, Chapter 6 - Company Law, and Chapter 31 - Foreign, Security and Defense Policy.

Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov expressed gratitude to the teams and all institutions involved for their efforts in preparing the presentations.

“We continue, equally determined and courageous!” Gherasimov stressed.
