President Maia Sandu today had a meeting Roxana Minzatu, Executive Vice President of the European Commission for social rights and competencies, quality jobs, and training, on her first official visit to Chisinau. The discussions were focused on expanding cooperation with the European Union in areas crucial for improving the quality of life: education, professional training, the labor market, and social policies that empower citizens to reach their potential.

The head of state highlighted the importance of European Union’s support for projects on education’s modernization: expanding Moldova's participation in the Erasmus+ mobility programme, including for students and teachers, developing the model schools’ network, and strengthening vocational education, with emphasis on renewable energy and digital education fields.

At the meeting, President Maia Sandu reiterated that the integration into the European Union was the strategic objective of Moldova. Progressing in the accession process is essential for strengthening people's confidence in a secure and prosperous future. The citizens' wish is clear: to live in a modern, European state, with good schools, decent jobs and quality public services – just as there are in other European Union member states.

Vice President Minzatu's visit takes place in the context of the high-level Moldova–European Union dialogue on educational, social and labor policies. The agenda includes meetings with government officials and visits to a lyceum in Criuleni and a social laundry in Zubresti, central Straseni district, projects carried out with European Union support.
