European MP says Moldova ready to switch to next stage of EU accession

Moldova is ready to switch to the next stage of EU accession and open negotiations on relevant clusters. There are no technical reasons to delay this process. MEP Siegfried Muresan today conveyed a message to this effect at the conference, Parliament of Moldova – Full Commitment to European Integration.

The official emphasized that the opening of the European Parliament Office in Chisinau strengthened the support provided by the EU and enhanced direct communication with citizens.

"The European Parliament stays a solid partner supporting the European path of  Moldova and we will continue to work to this end. Presently, in the European Union, there is a conviction that the country deserves to start accession negotiations and undertakes all conditions for starting negotiations. The perception of Moldova is positive. People did not know much about this country, but they have learned that it is important for the security of the European Union and that its citizens have managed to withstand the interference of the Russian Federation at the presidential and parliamentary elections, at the referendum for European integration. There is liking for Moldova, but I believe that efforts to promote the country should continue, including at the level of Western societies," said Siegfried Muresan.

The conference, Parliament of Moldova – Full Commitment to European Integration, takes place in the context of the publication of the European Commission's Enlargement Report on November 4, 2025, which confirms the country's substantial progress over the past 12 months and highlights the need to accelerate legislative alignment to European standards.

The event brings together representatives of parliament, government, the European Parliament Office in Chisinau, the EU Delegation, development partners, local authorities, the academic environment, civil society organizations and the media.
