Regional security, strengthening resilience to hybrid challenges on agenda of talks between Moldovan defense minister and counterparts from more states

The regional security situation, the effects of Russia’s war in Ukraine and efforts to strengthen the defence capabilities for enhancing resilience to hybrid challenges have been the main topics addressed in a dialogue between Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii and his counterparts from Romania, Lithuania and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The discussions took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

The officials discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and examined the possibility of identifying new ways to deepen partnerships.

The parties also reviewed the achievements within the partnerships and the support provided for the implementation of sectoral reforms. During the meetings, officials reiterated the need to promote Moldova’s defence commitments at the level of the international community, an important factor for accelerating the modernization of the National Army.

At the same time, Anatolie Nosatii discussed with the defence ministers of Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic and Norway the state of cooperation and ways to boost partnerships. The agenda also included topics regarding support provided to the National Army at the bilateral level, as well as through assistance platforms, such as the Defence Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI) and the European Peace Facility (EPF).

In Munich, Anatolie Nosatii, together with other members of the delegation, took part in a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Slovak Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák. The official also spoke during a panel dedicated to the security situation in the Black Sea region.

The defence minister attended the Munich Security Conference as member Moldova’s delegation, led by President Maia Sandu.

The event, which is one of the most important international forums dedicated to global security, this year brought together almost 50 heads of state and government, as well as leaders of major international organizations.
