Ireland to open embassy in Moldova by late 2025

Ireland will open an embassy in Chisinau by the end of this year. The opening of this diplomatic representation will enhance the diplomatic presence and facilitate political, economic, and cultural dialogue between the two countries, stated Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi during a meeting with new Irish ambassador to Chisinau Myles Geiran.

According to ministry's press release, Popșoi thanked Ireland for support of Moldova's European path and emphasized our country's interest in continuing cooperation, especially in light of Ireland's presidency of the EU Council in the second half of 2026.

Furthermore, the discussions addressed new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of IT and cybersecurity, with both parties reaffirming mutual interest in developing bilateral relations.
