Constitutional Court decides today on validation of 28 September parliamentary elections

The judges of the Constitutional Court meet today at 10:00 AM to review the Central Election Commission's (CEC) request regarding the confirmation of the results of the parliamentary elections held on September 28, 2025, and the validation of the mandates of the elected deputies.

After the ruling, the President of the Constitutional Court, Domnica Manole, will hold a press briefing.

According to the CEC, the report on the election results, approved on October 5, spans over 190 pages and is divided into 16 chapters. The document was submitted to the Constitutional Court on October 6, which has ten days to decide on the validation or annulment of the election results and the deputies’ mandates.

The CEC declared the elections held on September 28 valid and published the official data concerning the distribution of mandates in the upcoming Parliament. Thus, five political formations surpassed the electoral threshold:

Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) – 55 seats (792,557 votes);

Patriotic Bloc – 26 seats (381,984 votes);

Alternative Bloc – 8 seats (125,706 votes);

Our Party – 6 seats (97,852 votes);

Democracy at Home Party – 6 seats (88,679 votes).

In total, over 1.6 million citizens cast their votes in the election.

After the Constitutional Court's decision is made, it will be published in the Official Journal and will become official and enforceable. Subsequently, the head of state, Maia Sandu, will convene the new Parliament for its inaugural session.

During this session, the Constitutional Court will present the final report, and the Legislature will become officially constituted. The deputies will have ten days to elect the leadership of the Parliament and establish the parliamentary factions.

Only after the Parliament is established, the head of state will nominate a candidate for Prime Minister, following consultations with the factions. The candidate will have 15 days to present the list of ministers and the governance program and will request the parliament's vote.
