MEP: We expect first funds from Growth Plan to reach Moldova in early summer
Soon the first funds from the historic Growth Plan, valued at 1.9 billion euros, will arrive in the Republic of Moldova. President of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with the Republic of Moldova Siegfried Mureșan made the statement today.
The MEP welcomed the vote of the Chișinău parliament. According to him, ratification represents an essential stage in the implementation process, and the first funds could reach the Republic of Moldova even at the beginning of summer.
'The Growth Plan will finance the construction of hospitals, modernization of roads, construction of bridges over the Prut River, and will support the Republic of Moldova in the modernization and reform process, aiming for EU accession,' Mureșan said.
Chișinău parliament today approved the facilitation agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union on specific modalities for implementing the support granted by the European Union within the Reform and Growth Facility for the Republic of Moldova.
Thus, our country will benefit from financial support totaling 1.9 billion euros. This includes a grant component valued at 520 million euros, intended for investments, technical assistance, and loan guarantees. Additionally, our country will receive loans amounting to 1.5 billion euros, to be disbursed based on the progress made in implementing the assumed reforms.
The financial support will be provided based on conditionalities outlined in the Reform Agenda of the Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova, recently approved by the government. This contains 153 measures and 56 reforms, to be implemented by the end of 2027. The reform agenda targets seven key sectors: economic competitiveness and private sector development; connectivity and digital infrastructure; economic governance; social capital; green transition and natural capital; security and energy efficiency; fundamental values.
The facilitation agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union regarding the specific modalities for implementing the support within the Reform and Growth Mechanism for the Republic of Moldova was signed on May 9, 2025.
