Parliament marks 34 years of activity

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova marks 34 years of activity. During this period, the legislative body convened in 2,106 plenary sessions and adopted 13,590 normative acts. This afternoon, those interested can visit the institution and participate in the festive program organized on this occasion.

According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, in more than thirty years of operation, the supreme body has voted on 15 constitutional laws, 6,381 organic laws, and 115 ordinary laws. Additionally, 7,079 decisions have been adopted.

To mark this anniversary, the parliament is organizing Open Doors Day today, an event dedicated to public. Starting at 1:00 PM, visitors are expected at the Parliament headquarters, where they can participate in guided tours, interactive activities, and thematic exhibitions.

On May 23, 1991, by decision of the Supreme Soviet of the Moldavian SSR of the 12th legislature, the union republic was transformed into the Republic of Moldova, and the Supreme Soviet became the first Parliament of the sovereign state.
