PM: Enlargement of European Union - best investment for secure and prosperous Europe

Enlargement of the European Union is the best investment for a secure and prosperous Europe. Prime Minister Dorin Recean made the statement today. He held a press conference together with Prime Minister of Lithuania Gintautas Paluckas, on a visit to our country.

The two officials reiterated the support for a just peace for Ukraine.


'Lithuania has always been a firm supporter of the European path of the Republic of Moldova, and together we have stood in solidarity with Ukraine from day one. We have advocated for stopping Russia's bloody war in the neighboring country and have offered our help. And like my counterpart, I believe that a just peace for Ukraine is the only correct way,' said Dorin Recean.


Gintautas Paluckas said 'Lithuania has repeatedly stated that all democracies in the world must unite their efforts against totalitarian regimes, primarily to stop Russia's imperialist ambitions and to achieve sustainable and lasting peace in Ukraine.'

Furthermore, Gintautas Paluckas noted that, in light of current global challenges, a prosperous Europe, a successful Europe, would not be complete without the membership of the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and the Western Balkans.


'We hope to make considerable progress in the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova in the very near future. In the meantime, the resources and assistance that are provided for the Republic of Moldova remain a high priority on the Lithuanian government's agenda,' the Lithuanian Prime Minister said.


Gintautas Paluckas is paying an official visit to the Republic of Moldova today.
