Moldovan Speaker at Security Forum in Bucharest

Speaker Igor Grosu participated today in Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum, held in Bucharest. He sent a message of unity and resilience in the face of external threats.

“Today, at the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum, held in Bucharest, I conveyed a simple yet essential message: when we are united, we are strong. The presidential elections in Romania and Moldova were clear examples of how Kremlin tries to divide us – through extremism, manipulation, and destabilization. Yet, our voice was stronger. The mobilization of citizens showed that we choose democracy, peace, and the European path,” the official declared.

He also highlighted the security vulnerabilities of the Republic of Moldova.

“Moldova is a small country with a foreign army on its territory. The Transnistrian region and the Gagauz autonomy are used as destabilization tools. And yet, for four years, we managed to maintain peace and order in the Republic of Moldova. We governed responsibly, with goodwill, and with a single aim: to maintain peace in Moldova,” he said.

In conclusion, Grosu reaffirmed Moldova's firm commitment to the European path: “We have a clear path: to protect our children's future and to build a free, safe and European Moldova.”

Grosu was also the main speaker in two panel discussions at the forum. The first addressed the situation in the Transnistrian region, and the second concerned the consequences of Russia's hybrid war on the Republic of Moldova.

On May 22–23, the ninth edition of the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum – an international security conference at a regional level – is taking place in Bucharest, gathering participants from various countries to debate the risks, threats, and vulnerabilities in the Black Sea and Balkans region. The event is organized by the New Strategy Centre, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense of Romania.
