
Bulgarian Foreign Minister visits Chișinău
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria Georg Georgiev will pay a working visit to Moldova on May 24–25.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit's agenda includes meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi, Speaker Igor Grosu, as well as with Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov.
The agenda of the discussions will focus on deepening Moldovan-Bulgarian relations, Bulgaria's support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova, cooperation in the field of education, as well as dialogue with the Bulgarian community in the Republic of Moldova. Additionally, in Taraclia, the Bulgarian Foreign Minister will attend the official opening of Angel Kanchev University branch from Ruse.
On 25 May, starting at 10:10 AM, Foreign Ministers Mihai Popșoi and Georg Georgiev will hold a joint press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The last visit of a Bulgarian Foreign Minister to the Republic of Moldova took place in 2022. The Republic of Moldova established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Bulgaria on February 5, 1992. Bulgaria was among the first states to open a diplomatic mission in Chișinău on December 19, 1992, and on February 10, 1994, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova was opened in Sofia.
