Moldova's Ambassador to Romania asks for support from Romanian authorities for opening polling stations in big Romanian cities

Ambassador of Moldova to Romania Victor Chirila has asked for support from Romanian authorities, in order to open polling stations in the big cities of Romania, in the context of preparations for the parliamentary elections in Moldova. The initiative aims to ensure optimal conditions for Moldovan citizens in the Diaspora to exercise their voting rights.

The request was made during a meeting with Luminita Odobescu, presidential advisor to Romania’s President and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Cotroceni Palace. During the discussions, the two officials also addressed topics concerning the European agenda of Moldova, focusing on the support provided by Romania in the process of integration into the European Union.

At the presidential elections in 2024, 16 polling stations were opened in Romania. For the upcoming parliamentary elections, Moldova’s Central Electoral Commission proposed the opening of 294 polling stations abroad for consultations.
