Together with our Bulgarian partners, we are investing in education, building schools, cooperating in the energy sector and aim to speed up the economic collaboration by attracting investors from Bulgaria. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has made statements to this effect at a meeting with Prime Minister of Bulgaria Rossen Jeliazkov, on a visit to Chisinau.

The official appreciated the bilateral relations and expressed gratitude for the support given to Moldova in the energy and education sectors.

“We have a common goal – to ensure a decent and safe life for all our citizens, including the Bulgarian community of Moldova, which is an important part of this effort. The relations between our countries are becoming more and more stronger,” emphasized Igor Grosu.

The two officials also discussed the university in Taraclia, which has become a branch of the Angel Kanchev University of Ruse, marking the first Bulgarian higher education institution opened outside the country.

“This is a significant step for education – young people will be able to choose from seven fields of study, in Bulgarian, Romanian and English, and the degrees will be recognized throughout the European Union,” noted Igor Grosu.

The discussions were also focused on the domestic situation in Moldova – challenges related to crime rings and Kremlin’s influences, as well as the determination to advance on the European path of Moldova.

Prime Minister of Bulgaria Rossen Jeliazkov is on a visit to Moldova on July 27-28. During this visit, the official had meetings with President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The visit's agenda also included discussions with representatives of local public authorities from the southern Taraclia district and the signing of the Agreement, under which the former University of Taraclia becomes a branch of the Angel Kanchev University of Ruse, Bulgaria.
