People support the direction of development and modernization. We must stay united, in order to continue on the right path. Prime Minister Dorin Recean today conveyed a message to this effect, at a meeting with citizens in Sofia, northern Drochia district.

The official referred to actions that need to be taken for the development of villages and cities across the country.

“In Drochia, I talked with the locals in the village of Sofia about which direction we choose for Moldova, about how important peace and EU membership is for us. I am glad to know that people support the direction of development and modernization. We must stay united, in order to continue on the right path. At the same time, there are still things we need to do, in order to ensure a better life in every village and city,” said Dorin Recean.

The PM also highlighted the need to efficiently manage projects carried out with public funds.

“To succeed, everyone must do their job well where they are. For the received funds and all the work done to bring concrete results as soon as possible, responsibility and correctness in spending public money are needed. For example, in Sofia, during the repair of the ‘Viorel Cantemir’ gymnasium, we found, with regret, problems in the carrying out of the roof’s reconstruction works, building’s insulation and façade’s renovation. I have asked the company to remedy the situation and will insist on prudent spending. I have set a clear deadline for correcting the deficiencies and we will make sure the problems are resolved so that pupils and teachers have good conditions as soon as possible,” Dorin Recean noted.

The village of Sofia benefits from more projects funded by the governmental programmes European Village and European Village Express. Within these initiatives, public illumination works were carried out, equipment for emergency interventions was procured, including a special vehicle, an excavator, and a service car. Also, local institutions have been endowed with IT equipment. At the same time, the locality is included in a project for the production of green energy.
