Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi held meetings today with the foreign ministers of Ukraine and Montenegro, as well as with the Minister for European and International Affairs of the state of Hesse, Germany. The discussions took place on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum and focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing the European integration path of the Republic of Moldova.
During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, the talks focused on the European integration of the two countries, the security situation in the region in the context of the Russian Federation’s war of aggression, as well as on deepening bilateral cooperation.
“I thanked the Ukrainian authorities for their effective cooperation in solving the problem of pollution of the Dniester River, caused by strikes on the Novodnestrovsk Hydroelectric Complex. I also appreciated the prompt intervention to repair the Isaccea–Vulcănești overhead power line, damaged as a result of Russian attacks,” said Popșoi.
The dialogue with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Ervin Ibrahimović, provided an opportunity to exchange best practices in the process of accession to the European Union. At the same time, interest was expressed in developing economic and sectoral relations, including in the field of tourism, as well as in promoting Moldovan exports and expanding trade. In this context, Minister Ibrahimović proposed organizing political consultations to address the issues of common interest on the bilateral agenda.
With the Minister for Federal, European, International Affairs and Reduction of Bureaucracy of the state of Hesse, Germany, Manfred Pentz, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening economic cooperation and capitalizing on regional partnerships. The role of Germany as one of the main trading partners of the Republic of Moldova was also underlined, and interest was expressed in expanding cooperation with German federal states. Thus, Popșoi thanked Germany for its support in the country’s development, as well as for assisting Moldovan citizens residing in Germany.
