Three anti-corruption prosecutors heard by evaluation commission
Three prosecutors from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (PA) were heard yesterday and today by the Prosecutors’ Evaluation Commission: Stanislav Odajiu, Iulian Diaconu, and Vasile Plevan.
The first to be heard was the prosecutor delegated to the PA, Stanislav Odajiu. Evaluation Panel A had previously collected relevant information for assessing the subject and determining his compliance with integrity criteria. To clarify certain identified aspects, two rounds of written questions were sent, which the subject answered within the set deadlines. During the hearing, two topics were examined—in a closed session at the request of the evaluated subject—in order to ensure the protection of private life and morality.
The second prosecutor heard was Iulian Diaconu. Following the analysis of the gathered information and the answers provided by the prosecutor to three rounds of written questions, Panel A did not identify any doubts regarding compliance with the integrity criteria established by law that would require being discussed during a hearing.
“This exercise was a maturity exam for me in the prosecutor’s office. I recently reached 21 years of activity. I was open with the Commission, I answered the questions and provided all the information I had,” said Iulian Diaconu.
The third hearing, conducted within the re-evaluation procedure in a closed session, concerned prosecutor Vasile Plevan. On January 21, 2026, Evaluation Panel A issued a report proposing that he fail the external evaluation due to non-compliance with integrity criteria. The report was rejected by the Superior Council of Prosecutors on February 19, 2026, which ordered the resumption of the evaluation procedure by the Commission.
Video recordings of the hearings will be available within at most three days on the Commission’s website. The evaluation reports regarding the three prosecutors will be issued within 30 working days.
