President condemns Russian attacks and calls for additional sanctions against Russia: War will stop only when Russia stops

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu has condemned the attacks launched by the Russian Federation during the night of April 15–16 on several Ukrainian cities, which resulted in civilian casualties and significant destruction. The head of state called for intensified international support for Ukraine and the imposition of new sanctions against Russia.

“During the night, Russia bombed residential buildings in Kyiv, Dnipro and Odesa. At least 15 civilians were killed. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones,” Maia Sandu wrote.

The President stressed that what is needed now is a strong and coordinated response at the European level.

“What is needed now is more European unity, more support for Ukraine, more sanctions against Russia – because this war will stop only when Russia stops,” the head of state added.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, Russia launched a massive attack last night, using 44 missiles and approximately 700 drones. As a result of the bombings, dozens of people lost their lives.
