Moldovan Central Electoral Commission receives over two thousand mail-in ballots for September 28 parliamentary elections

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) informs that the four electoral bureaus of the polling stations for mail-in voting have received 2,055 envelopes with votes, at  the parliamentary elections due on September 28, 2025.

Most envelopes were received by the electoral office in Washington – 1,162, followed by Ottawa – 555, Stockholm – 286 and Tokyo – 52. The deadline for the receipt expired on September 26, at 18:00, according to the time zone of each host country.

The envelopes received have been systematized and stored in sealed ballot boxes, which will be opened only after the closing of all polling stations in the concerned  country.

As many as 2,593 people registered for mail-in voting on the CEC's electronic platform in all, and 2,472 applications were accepted. Those who did not manage to send the envelopes in time were informed by email and can vote on election day at any polling station established abroad.

It is worth mentioning that, at these elections, the mail-in voting is applied in ten countries: USA, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
