Moldovan deputy PM, Dutch Ambassador discuss evolution of relations between Moldova and the Netherlands, security cooperation
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today had a farewell meeting with Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Moldova Fred Duijn. The officials discussed the evolution of Moldovan–Dutch relations, cooperation in the fields of security and defense and the implementation of joint projects in support of the rule of law, local public administration and institutional resilience.
Minister Mihai Popsoi emphasized, that during Ambassador Fred Duijn’s tenure, Moldova had taken decisive steps on its path to European integration.
“Your mandate has truly been a remarkable one. On this period, our country has taken decisive steps on the road to the EU and the Kingdom of the Netherlands has stood by us at every important stage, from justice reform and the strengthening of democratic institutions to reinforcing resilience and countering hybrid threats. I thank you for the openness and professionalism with which you have contributed to bringing Moldova closer to the European Union,” said Mihai Popsoi.
The Moldovan foreign minister praised Ambassador Fred Duijn’s contribution to the opening of the first Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands with residence in Chisinau. The minister also welcomed the expansion of the partnership in the economic and investment fields, as well as the support provided for the reform and modernization process of Moldova.
For his part, Ambassador Fred Duijn commended the cooperation with Moldova’s authorities and the progress achieved in implementing reforms and in the European integration process, expressing confidence that the relations between the two states would continue to develop.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Mihai Popsoi wished the ambassador much success in his further professional endeavors.
