Moldovan parliament speaker says Action Plan launched by Council of Europe proof of trust in Moldova's transformation potential

The Action Plan for Moldova, launched by the Council of Europe for 2025-2028, is a proof of the trust in the country’s potential of transformation and of development. This Plan will help Moldova edify, in continuation, a rule of law state, with strong institutions and able to cope with the challenges from abroad. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today made statements to this effect. He had a meeting with Secretary General of Council of Europe Alain Berset, on an official visit to Chisinau.

„Along with Secretary General of Council of Europe Alain Berset, who is on a visit to Chisinau, we established the priority sectors on which we will put emphasis, such as the fight against the propaganda and misinformation, the artificial intelligence widely used in the social networks, the cleaning the justice, fight against the oligarchs and crime rings, as well as the unprecedented interference with the electoral processes,’’ Igor Grosu said.

The speaker stressed that the 2025 year was an important year for Moldova’s European integration way – a road voted by most Moldovans at a referendum.

„Undoubtedly, we have still much to work; yet, we are determined to defend our democracy and advance on the way of Moldova’s accession to the European Union,’’ Igor Grosu noted.

Secretary General of Council of Europe Alain Berset is on an official visit to Chisinau on 12-13 February 2025. The agenda sees meetings with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, as well as with representatives of the civil society and the judicial system. The discussions will be focused on key priorities, including the human rights, democracy and the rule of law state.

Also, the European official will launch a new Action Plan for Moldova for 2025-2028.

During the visit, the secretary general will interact with students of the Moldovan State University, following a discussion on the subject, Misinformation – a threat to the European democracy.
