
Moldovan electoral body says voters can ask for voting with mobile box at new local elections due on May 18
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) informs that voters in settlements where new local elections will take place on May 18, 2025, can ask to vote at their place of stay by using a mobile ballot box.
According to electoral legislation, voters who, for health or other valid reasons, cannot go to the polling station can submit written requests for mobile ballot box voting starting two weeks before the elections day and till 14:00 of the day before the election.
On the day of elections, requests can be approved by the electoral office until 14:00, only upon the presentation of a medical certificate.
Individuals who cannot submit the request themselves can seek help from a family member or a social worker from the municipality. If the voter cannot sign the request, because of a physical disability or other valid reasons, it can be submitted verbally at the polling station or by phone, depending on circumstances.
On elections day, the head of the electoral office at the polling station appoints at least two members, to go with the mobile ballot box and necessary materials to the voter's location, in order to ensure their right to vote.
On May 18, 2025, new local elections will be held for the position of mayor in the commune of Calugar, Falesti district, Chiperceni commune, Orhei district, Talmaza village, Stefan Voda district, Bolduresti commune, Nisporeni district, and Tabani village, Briceni district, and for a new composition of the village council in Temeleuti, Floresti district.
