
Almost 64 per cent of candidates pass BAC exams in Moldova
Chisinau, 09 July /MOLDPRES/ – Almost 64 per cent of candidates passed the Basic Session of Baccalaureate exams 2018, 4 per cent more than in 2017. The results were presented today by the director of the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation (ANCE), Anatol Topala.
Anatol Topala specified at a press conference that after examining appeals, exam promotion rate increased by 1.33 per cent. "Totally, there were filed over 11,500 appeals, which is 17.6 per cent of works. Most complaints were submitted to Romanian language and literature – more than 2,600, history – 2,033, English – 1,630, geography – 1,495, mathematics – 1,360. After examinations, there were increased over 3,000 marks – 26 per cent of contested marks. Similarly, the number of appeals was lower than previously," said Topala.
According to cited source, the BAC exams were promoted by over 11,600 pupils, of whom about 9,000 are high school pupils. "Compared to data of 2017, overall promotion rate increased by 4 per cent. Also, it has increased the promotion average. The average mark for high school pupils is 7. Over half of high school pupils achieved an average equal to or bigger than 7. More than 5,300 candidates received mark 7, and more than 2,040 candidates have mark higher than or equal to 8, another 436 candidates scored 9 or more, and 6 candidates have average 10," said Anatol Topala.
A supplementary session takes place between 16 – 23 July, and results will be published on 25 July. The subsequent appeals results will be published on 01 August.
At Baccalaureate session 2018, there were admitted a total of 18,150 candidates. Out of these, 10,616 candidates are from high schools, 4,015 from colleges and centres of excellence, 167 from universities, 332 foreign candidates and 3,020 from previous sessions.
