Eighty million lei invested in northern district of Moldova through European Village governmental programme

An amount of 80 million lei has been invested in the northern Rascani district through the European Village governmental programme, editions I and II. The money was used for the renovation of educational and medical institutions, the modernization of roads and the construction of public lighting and water supply networks. The initiatives undertaken and the needs of localities from Moldova today were discussed by President Maia Sandu and mayors from the Rascani district.

The head of state said that the discussions had focused on the priorities of the people from Moldova, including the condition of the roads, access to potable water, agricultural challenges and other important topics of the community.

‘’Through the European Village programmes I and II alone, almost 80 million lei has been invested in the district: water supply networks have been extended in Costesti, Pociumbeni, Dumeni, and several kilometers of streets have been lit in Hiliuti, Mihaileni, Duruitoarea Noua and other localities. Kindergartens, schools have been renovated, and investments have been made in the medical system of the district,’’ said Maia Sandu.

The Moldovan president added that investments in the modernization of localities from the country would continue and funds would be supplemented with the European Union’s support.

‘’We can do even more with the help of European funds. Therefore, we must continue on the European path – the only one that can bring us development, peace, and prosperity,’’ concluded Maia Sandu.
