
As many as 129 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours
Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/ -As many as 971 biological samples have been processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours, of which 129 ones proved to be positive. Thus, there are 4,605 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the Single Command Centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
According to Dumbraveanu, all cases are with local transmission. Most infection cases were registered in Chisinau – 53, left bank of Dniester – 19, Cahul – 7, Causeni , Glodeni, Ocnita – 2 cases each. ‘’Today, another 89 patients were discharged; thus, there are 1,747 people treated of COVID-19,’’ Dumbraveanu noted.
The health minister said that 23 medical employees today had been tested positive for COVID-19, of whom five physicians and 11 assistants. ‘’We have a new hotbed in the hospital from Basarabeasca. There are another infection cases at a hospital from Chisinau. The intense testing of medical employees continues and massive testing in carried out in hotbeds,’’ Dumbraveanu said.
The minister specified that 29 infected patients were intubated and 249 were in serious condition. She also said that two persons had died today and the number of dead people had reached 145.
State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
