Chișinău International Airport to be named after composer Eugen Doga
Government of the Republic of Moldova has initiated the official procedure to rename Chișinău International Airport to Eugen Doga International Airport – Chișinău as a tribute to one of the country's greatest composers. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea made the statement at DescOperă event, inaugurated today in Butuceni.
“We end this week with beautiful news. The decision reflects gratitude for a work that has made Moldova known worldwide,” the official stated.
Eugen Doga, the author of compositions that have become symbols of the national cultural heritage, is internationally recognized for his remarkable contribution to classical and film music. The renaming of the airport comes as an official recognition of this contribution.
Also at Butuceni event, the minister mentioned the results of government investments in the region's tourist infrastructure. Over 30 million lei have been allocated for the restoration of historical sites and the construction of a multifunctional conference center, aiming to boost local tourism and leverage the cultural and natural potential of the area.
