Greener communities: three organizations get support for local ecological projects through EcoContact

Three non-governmental organizations in the country have been selected as winners of the fourth grant call under Active Citizens for a Healthy Environment and Green Justice Program, carried out through the project Green Justice for a Protected Environment and Sustainable Communities in the Republic of Moldova, funded by Sweden and implemented by EcoContact.

The competition, launched at the beginning of this autumn, attracted 12 project proposals, out of which 10 were admitted to the qualitative evaluation stage. After a detailed analysis carried out by the Evaluation Committee, three initiatives received the necessary score and were selected for funding.

On October 10, 2025, the new program beneficiaries participated in the first organizational training session, where aspects of narrative and financial reporting, project visibility rules, and coordination of local activities were discussed. The purpose of these trainings is to ensure transparent, efficient implementation with a lasting environmental impact.

Launched in February 2023, the Small Grants Program for Environmental NGOs supports active organizations in the eleven districts that are part of the Local Environmental Platforms in their efforts to identify and solve local environmental issues. The program promotes public participation in decision-making, the development of local regulations with environmental protection components, and increased civic involvement in sustainable development actions.

Through these grants, the role of local communities is strengthened in the transition towards a greener, healthier, and more environmentally responsible Moldova.

"Each funded project brings about real change where it matters most - in communities. These initiatives demonstrate that local involvement is key to a sustainable future," EcoContact said.
