Chisinau, May 12. /MOLDPRES/- International Nurses Day is marked in Moldova today. 18,964 medical assistants work in the health system in our country.
According to the National Health Insurance Company, the International Nurses Day is marked annually on May 12 - the birthday of nurse Florence Nightingale, considered the founder of this profession and the one who opened the first school for nurses in the world in London in 1860.
According to statistics, two thirds of all medical workers in our country are nurses. In 2022, the National Health Insurance Company earmarked over 2.5 billion lei for salary of over 20 thousand employees included in the category of average medical personnel (nurses).
