Modern transport for pupils of Moldova: 23 minibuses delivered to schools nationwide

A total of 21 school minibuses today were delivered to general educational institutions across Moldova. The vehicles will be used to transport around 700 pupils from various localities to the schools where they study. At the same time, two other transport units were delivered, for the first time, to sports schools. The  Education and Research Ministry (MEC) allocated 24 million lei for the purchasing of these transport units.

The minibuses have 17 seats, are endowed with modern safety systems, air conditioning and multimedia equipment, providing pupils with optimal daily transportation conditions to school.

The transport units were delivered to schools in the districts of Briceni, Cahul, Calarasi, Causeni, Cimislia, Donduseni, Drochia, Falesti, Floresti, Hancesti, Ialoveni, Soroca, and Straseni.

Present at the event, Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said that MEC’s priority was to ensure access to quality education for all children.

"A modern means of transportation, well equipped with all necessities, for a child, can often mean the chance to discover their potential, to develop the skills that are so necessary. Therefore, we want to be able to provide such conditions for all children who need them," Dan Perciun noted.

According to the minister, about 20,000 children, or 8% of all pupils of Moldova, travel to school by bus daily, and he assured that investments in equipping schools with modern transport units would continue.

In the context, Dan Perciun emphasized that the next batch of school minibuses, consisting of 50 units, would be delivered to schools across the country by August 2026 at the latest.

One of the 23 school minibuses donated today will go to Soroca, where about 1,200 students are transported daily to school. "We have received many requests from parents to transport children to a better school, but we were not able to meet them due to lack of necessary transport," said Daniela Corcimari from the Soroca Education Directorate.
