VIDEO // More efficient control and safety for citizens: National Integrated Border Management Program approved by Government

The National Integrated State Border Management Program for 2026-2030 has been approved by the Government. Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin stated that the main goal of the document is to enhance citizen safety through more efficient and modern border control.

The program focuses on both institutional strengthening and the operational, technological, and strategic development of the national integrated state border management system.

“The document aims to modernize the infrastructure and technologies used at border crossing points, ensuring effective management of the flow of people and goods, which will reduce waiting times and facilitate legal cross-border traffic. Equipping with modern border surveillance technologies and securing it is another objective by which we aim to reduce smuggling cases, combat human trafficking, illegal migration, and other hybrid threats,” emphasized Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin.

The Minister of Internal Affairs mentioned that the novelty of the program lies in developing a national quality control mechanism through the implementation of a continuous assessment system to ensure compliance with European Union standards in the field of integrated state border management.

“Through this program, the Government sends a strong message. Citizen security is a strategic priority, and the border of the Republic of Moldova will become safer, more efficient, and friendlier for all those who cross it legally.”

According to the project's informative note, the program aims for the modernization of infrastructure and technologies used at crossing points, creating a unified and digitized information exchange system among relevant authorities, as well as developing mechanisms for operational cooperation with the European Union and neighboring states.

This decision will come into effect on January 1, 2026.
