VIDEO // Health Minister announces mandate priorities: modern medical services and system digitalization

At the beginning of his term, Minister of Health Emil Ceban presented the government's main priorities in the health sector, emphasizing the commitment to equal access to modern medical services and aligning legislation with European standards.

In a video message, the official outlined four main directions.

1. Ensuring Access for All Patients to Modern Medical Services

“First of all, I will do everything possible to ensure patients' access to medical services. Modern medical services should be accessible to the entire population of the Republic of Moldova,” said the minister, emphasizing the need for all patient categories to benefit from quality services, regardless of location or provider sector.

2. Aligning Health Legislation with European Standards

“Secondly, we are preparing for a European path, so we will do everything possible for the legislation in this system to comply with European standards,” Ceban explained, highlighting the country's commitment to harmonize medical norms and regulations with European Union standards.

3. Accelerating the Digitization Process of the Health System

The minister highlighted the role of technology in modernizing the sector.

“We are in modern times when technologies are in vogue. Therefore, we must modernize, introduce everything possible into health, have access to a medical card, access laboratories, and access no matter where we are, state or private, to have an informational system in medicine. Both for our patients and for our doctors,” the minister mentioned.

4. Developing and Strengthening Primary Medicine

“Of course, family medicine, which is the foundation of medicine. From there, every patient begins the journey within the health system. We will modernize it and create good conditions so that access and service quality in family medicine reach the highest level,” emphasized the Health Minister.

In addition to these priorities, Emil Ceban mentioned continuing the construction and modernization of regional and university hospitals so that access to top services is equal between Chișinău, North and South, as well as the development of rehabilitation and mental health services.

“We want a modern and accessible health system for all citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” concluded the minister.
