VIDEO // Deputy PM after European Commission's Enlargement Report says Moldova makes unprecedented progress

Moldova has made unprecedented progress on its European path. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov made statements to this effect after the European Commission had adopted the annual enlargement package on November 4. She said that Moldova had met the conditions for opening three negotiation clusters.

“In the past year, enormous efforts have been made to advance on our European path and this is reflected in the positive assessment of the European Commission. If in 2023, at the first evaluation, we had seven chapters in their initial phase and only two with a moderate level of preparation, by 2025 we no longer have any chapter in the initial phase and one third of the chapters with a moderate or better level of preparation. This is unprecedented progress for our country and a fact that proves that we, as a country, can deliver results. There is still a lot to be done, but if we managed such a performance in such a difficult year, I am confident that we will be able to make the necessary leap to close the negotiations within the deadlines we have set,” said Cristina Gherasimov.

The European Commission confirms that Moldova has met the conditions for opening three negotiation clusters: 'fundamentals', 'external relations', and 'internal market', and expects all ten clusters to be opened by the end of 2025.

The annual enlargement package, adopted by the European Commission today, assesses the progress of partner states on their path to European integration over the past 12 months. According to the document, Moldova has significantly advanced in the accession process, completing the technical screening stage and meeting the conditions for opening more negotiation clusters.
