Speaker congratulates medal-winning athletes at international competitions
Speaker Igor Grosu today sent a congratulatory message to the Moldovan athletes who won gold and bronze medals at international competitions. The official said 'thanks to these young people, the Republic of Moldova is reaching the highest podiums'.
The speaker thanked the athletes for their hard work and dedication. Grosu assured that the authorities will continue to invest in sports.
'A very good start for the Moldovan athletes at the World University Games in Germany - the Republic of Moldova climbed the podium winning the gold medal. Olympian Adil Osmanov won the gold medal. Also, at the European Youth Olympic Festival, held in Skopje, Macedonia, our athletes have already won four medals - shooter Climentii Ursu won two gold medals in the 10-meter air pistol event, and judokas Gabriela Herța and Alexandra Chiron won bronze medals. Thank you for your work and dedication. Thanks to you, the Republic of Moldova is reaching the highest podiums. We are on the right track, and we will continue to invest in sports,' noted Grosu.
In the last three years, investments in sports in the Republic of Moldova have increased by 80%, from 341 million lei to 730 million lei. With this money, 133 sports halls and fields have been renovated across the country. Also, scholarships for performance athletes have been doubled, so that the highest monthly scholarship for a performance athlete reaches about 65,600 lei.
