On June 24, the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse is marked - a symbol of Romanian cultural identity and an iconic piece of traditional costume. The holiday was initiated by the community 'La Blouse Roumaine' in2 013.

The Romanian blouse has been inscribed in the UNESCO intangible world heritage. On December 1, 2022, the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage adopted the decision to inscribe the element, The Art of the Blouse with Embroidery – A Cultural Identity Element in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
