
Moldovan PM discusses with representatives of tourism sector's associations
Prime Minister Dorin Recean with representatives of several relevant associations have discussed possibilities for leveraging the tourism potential of Moldova, the challenges faced by organizations in the field and the prospects for the sector’s development.
The PM said that tourism was a strategic area for the country's economic development, emphasizing the importance of sector’s efficient management, including in the context of Moldova's European agenda.
“We must continue to invest in this sector and promote Moldova as a competitive destination. We have much to be proud of - traditions, wines, delicious food, quality services and hospitable people,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
According to the PM, the authorities' efforts will focus on measures to stimulate specific tourism, including medical tourism, rehabilitating infrastructure and constructing roads adjacent to tourist routes, investments in local development, as well as providing funds to organizations that invest in historical monuments or the arrangement of natural monuments.
During the discussions, the sides addressed the need to develop the National Tourism Strategy and modernize the LEADER programme, which supports the development of rural communities. The participants in the meeting also discussed the importance of operationalizing the Digital Tourism Registry, launching the National Tourism Fund and implementing vacation vouchers – an instrument to support domestic tourism.
