
PM says leadership must continue investing in tourism, promote Moldova as competitive destination
Prime Minister Dorin Recean and representatives of more tourism associations have examined opportunities to capitalize on the tourism potential of Moldova.
The PM emphasized the need to continue investments in the tourism sector and to promote Moldova as a competitive destination.
"Today, I discussed with representatives of more tourism associations about how we can better capitalize on the tourism potential of Moldova. We have much to be proud of - traditions, wines, delicious food, quality services and hospitable people. We must continue investments in this sector and promote Moldova as a competitive destination," said Dorin Recean.
At the same time, the prime minister urged citizens, especially those who have returned from abroad on this period, to rediscover Moldova.
"During this period, when many loved ones return home, I urge you all to rediscover Moldova," concluded Dorin Recean.
According to data by the National Statistics Bureau, the number of foreign visitors who have visited Moldova through travel agencies increased by 44.8 per cent in the first half of this year, reaching 37.1 thousand visitors.
At the same time, the number of tourists accommodated in tourism reception structures of Moldova reached 222 thousand people, compared to 209 thousand people in the same period last year.
