Moldovan students to be able to benefit from scholarships provided by Hungarian government
Moldovan students will be able to benefit from scholarships provided by the Hungarian government under the Stipendium Hungaricum programme during 2026-2028. This will be possible after the government today ruled to initiate negotiations and sign a new Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.
The new Memorandum will replace the agreement signed in 2022 and will mark the fifth edition of the programme, initially launched in 2014. The document aims to promote academic mobility for young people from Moldova by participating in the scholarships programme provided by the Hungarian government through the Tempus Public Foundation.
Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said that the signing of this Memorandum continued to give Moldovan students opportunity to pursue bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral studies in Hungary.
‘’Hungary traditionally provides Moldova with 40 places for our students, and these opportunities will continue throughout this agreement till 2029,’’ said Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun.
Presently, Hungary provides 40 scholarships annually for Moldovan citizens in all higher education cycles (bachelor's, master's, and doctoral). Study fields include the following specialties: agriculture, engineering, exact sciences, information technologies and political sciences.
At the same time, the Memorandum provides for the creation of a Programme for the graduates of the scholarships programme, that will allow tracking their professional paths and creating a network of programme graduates.
